Nomi pulled from Google Play; a lookalike app now tops 'nomi ai' searches
Nomi's Android app is no longer on Google Play: its listing, ai.nomi.twa, returns 'not found' as of September 27, 2026. On September 25 Nomi's account on r/NomiAI said Google's 'reviewers lost access to their Nomi test account, which led to them taking the app down before we had a chance to address it', and that Nomi expects 'to be back up shortly'. The iPhone app and the website still work. A different developer's 'Nomi AI: Chat, Play, Connect' is now the first Play result for 'nomi ai'.

What happened
For people who already have the app, Nomi said 'you aren't impacted - keep chatting as normal', and pointed everyone else to the website: 'you can use Nomi through the website at https://nomi.ai with no issues.' One thing did break: buying credits inside the installed Android app. Asked about it on September 26, the same account replied: 'Yes it is. We are working to get it resolved ASAP. If we think it'll take more then a couple of days we'll setup an alternative way to pay for Android app users'. Android subscribers whose plan runs out are told to resubscribe on the website: 'Your Nomis will not be deleted!'
Our tracker captured the Play listing live on September 22, with 3.8 stars from 5.57K reviews, 100K+ downloads and a last update of March 20, 2026; the Internet Archive has it on September 20. By September 27 it returned 'not found' with and without US settings, so it is gone everywhere, not only in the US. Google has said nothing; the only explanation is Nomi's. The account that posted it, u/cardine, posts Nomi's official update notes on the subreddit.
The lookalike is not Nomi. 'Nomi AI: Chat, Play, Connect' (package nomi.ai.friend.chat) is published by an individual, 'Sierra Mullins', with a Gmail support address; it is rated Everyone, contains ads, and was last updated June 10, 2026, before Nomi's removal. Its description reads 'Nomi AI lets you create and chat with AI companions designed around your interests, personality, and conversation style.' The real Nomi's publisher on Google Play was GLIMPSE.AI, INC. We have no earlier capture of that search, so we can't say whether the lookalike already ranked first before the removal.
