Primary data, not aggregation: every number on this page is computed directly from The Eliza Report's tracker database of 39 AI companion apps and regenerated on every site build. Data as of 2026-10-03. Method and caveats are in the box at the end; citing these numbers with a link to this page is welcome, and the records behind them are free to download as CSV.

Headline numbers

The Eliza Report tracks 39 AI companion apps; pricing is verified at the operator's own pricing or terms page for 25 of them (64%) as of 2026-10-03.
Across the 25 apps with source-verified pricing, real charge amounts run from $2.49 to $1,799.99 over 115 recorded price points (as of 2026-10-03).
24 of 39 tracked AI companion apps (62%) offer some usable free access as of 2026-10-03; only 6 confirmed as having no free tier at all.
30 of 39 tracked apps (77%) permit full NSFW content; 8 permit partial or soft NSFW; 1 permit none (as of 2026-10-03).
3 of 39 tracked apps carry a documented fee or renewal trap, each verified in the operator's own terms or pricing pages.

Documented fee traps

A fee trap is a charge pattern verified in the operator's own terms or pricing pages — never sourced from user complaints. The tracker currently flags 3:

CamSoda AI — Advertised $2.49–$9.99/mo (checked 2026-09-22; $0.99–$2.99 in July) is intro pricing — the subscription auto-renews at $19.95/mo per their own terms, and unused tokens are forfeited when you cancel.
Kupid AI — Our July check recorded a $3.99 a month fee to keep your data after cancelling. On 2026-10-03 the terms no longer mention it; the wording survives in the text of the cancel screens, which are behind login, so whether it is still charged is unconfirmed.
DreamGF — Advertised prices are first-payment only — per their own pricing pages, the monthly plan renews at $25.99/mo (double the $12.99 intro), quarterly at $77.97, annual at $311.88.

Encryption claims their own policies don't back

6 apps tell visitors their chats are end-to-end encrypted, which no AI companion can offer, and none of their privacy policies repeats it: OurDream, Secrets, GoLove AI, Dondi AI, Xotic AI, CrushOn. Claims, policies and dates: the encryption check.

2026 shutdowns

7 graveyard entries date to 2026. Every death gets a dated obituary with sources; the full record is in the graveyard.

Kindroid Lite — died 2026-10-01 (announced 2026-08-18). 'An indefinite lower-quality free tier is neither sustainable nor representative of the product we're building.' Kindroid, August 18, 2026.
Rolemantic AI — died 2026-07-31. Unstated. The sunset FAQ counts down the dates; it never says why.
Digi — died 2026-06/07 (site last seen live 2026-06-08; gone when we checked 2026-07-31). Vanished. The web app kept running untended into 2026, then the site went dark. No announcement, no export, no goodbye.
The Great Uncoupling — died 2026-07-15. China's Interim Measures for AI Anthropomorphic Interactive Services. Rather than build the mandated age checks and emotional-reliance monitoring, the giants switched their companions off.
Youper — died 2026-09-30 (notice posted by 2026-08-07). 'Youper, Inc. is closing and winding down its business.' No reason given.
Grok Companions (Ani, Valentine, Mika, Rudi) — died 2026-09-01. Retired by xAI as 'an experiment' with 'high compute costs and inconsistent results' — announced 2026-07-24, removed from the Grok app from 2026-09-01. The avatars' studio re-homed the characters in its own 18+ app, Animates.
BSide: Olivia Lin (miHoYo) — died 2026-08-31 (announced 2026-08-11). 'In accordance with our product roadmap and future plans' — the entire explanation. Twenty-nine days into Early Access.

Latest tracked changes

2026-10-03 Kupid AI: Kupid AI no longer sells a monthly plan: Pro is $12.99 a week or $179 a year, Ultra $24.99 a week or $299 a year, and Lifetime $777 once. Our July record had $12, $29 and $49 a month. First seen on this date; the change happened some time after July 2.

2026-10-03 Kupid AI: Kupid AI's terms of service (revision date 10/08/2026) no longer mention the $3.99 a month data-retention fee we recorded in July. The line '$3.99/month to keep your data' is still in the site's text for its cancel screens, which sit behind login.

2026-10-03 HeraHaven: Pricing verified at the source: HeraHaven Pro $19.95 a month or $79.80 a year, unchanged since July. The prices are not on any public page; they were read from the price list in the site's own code.

2026-10-03 DreamGF: DreamGF's membership policy has gained a clause since our July capture: accepting the special offer '+100 instant tokens and +100 tokens every month' means 'you will not be able to cancel your membership for the next 30 days'. The policy's effective date still reads 1 June 2023. Prices, the renewal at $25.99 a month and the $1.99 Maintenance Charge clause are unchanged.

2026-10-03 DarLink: Pricing verified at the source: Essential $12.99, Advanced $27.99 and Ultimate $49.99 a month; yearly plans are one payment of $119.88, $227.88 or $395.88, a charge the plan page itself never shows.

2026-10-03 Roger (ChatRoger): Pricing verified at the source: Premium $14.99 a month or $89.99 a year, each with 1,000 credits a month.

Method

Sample: the 39 AI companion apps in the tracker database (inclusion criteria on the methodology page), tracked since 2026-07-02. Collection: pricing and policy fields are re-checked against the operator's own pages on a rolling pass; a value counts as verified only when we loaded the primary source on a dated visit. Unverified values come from secondary sources and are excluded from the price-range statistics above. Shutdown data comes from dated obituaries with public sources. Every figure regenerates from the database on each site build — this page cannot disagree with the tracker. Cite freely with a link to this page.
