Nomi: what it costs, what's free, and what it allows

Nomi's Standard plan costs $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year ($8.33 a month) on the App Store. Nomi publishes no prices on its website; the plan screen is behind sign-in, so Apple's listing is the only public price list. Chatting is free to start, with no card needed.

What we checked: 23 pages on the App Store, nomi.ai, beta.nomi.ai, wiki.nomi.ai, Google Play and others, with the prices re-read from a US connection on 2026-09-27. Everything was read logged out and nothing was bought. We kept 58 quotes word for word (the receipts at the bottom) and a dated screenshot.

What we found

• The App Store also lists a cheaper Launch Plan at $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year next to Standard. Nomi's public pages never mention it, so what it includes and who can buy it is unknown.
• Yearly is the real discount: $99.99 works out at $8.33 a month against $15.99 monthly, a 48% saving. The quarterly plan, at $13.33 a month, saves much less.
• Bigger credit packs are far cheaper per credit: about 5.6 cents in the 1,800 pack against 12.5 cents in the 40 pack.
• Nomi's Android app was pulled from Google Play by September 25: the listing returns 404 (it was live on September 22 with 100K+ installs). Nomi blamed a Google review mix-up and called it temporary; existing installs and the website still work. A third-party 'Nomi AI: Chat, Play, Connect' from another developer now ranks first on Play for 'nomi ai'.
• Chat is 'unfiltered', but Nomi's help wiki says Nomis may not send nude photos 'and we will not be changing this policy anytime soon'. Images are clothed only.
• The homepage says 'All chats are anonymized', but Nomi's wiki says end-to-end encryption is 'not possible' and that chats train the model in aggregate, with names removed. The privacy policy never says whether staff can read chats.
• Age assurance is only a self-declared date of birth; the terms say Nomi 'intends to' add verification. Apple's label nonetheless lists in-app 'Age Assurance' controls.
• Sign-up requires a Google or Apple account. The privacy policy recommends Apple's private relay email, and tells users not to put identifying details in chats.

What Nomi is

Nomi is an AI companion app centred on memory: friend, partner or mentor characters you chat with. The iOS app's version history starts with 1.0 on July 5, 2023. Nomi's help wiki lists a web app, iOS and Android (Google Play), plus an installable web shortcut (PWA). As of 2026-09-27 the Google Play listing (ai.nomi.twa) returns 404 in the US; it was live on 2026-09-22.

Nomi's official account (u/cardine, profile 'Giving Nomis their soul.') posted on r/NomiAI on 2026-09-25, under the 'Nomi Update' flair, that Google pulled the app after its reviewers lost access to their test account. Existing installs and the website keep working. Searching Google Play for 'nomi ai' now puts an unrelated lookalike first: 'Nomi AI: Chat, Play, Connect' from developer Sierra Mullins (contains ads, rated Everyone, 10K+). Nomi.ai is owned and run by Glimpse.ai, Inc., a Maryland corporation. The App Store seller name is AI GLIMPSE INC (developer shown as Nomi.ai).

The terms are governed by Maryland law, with mediation then JAMS arbitration in Baltimore and a class-action waiver.

• Free tier limits: Free accounts get daily messages and images. Voice calls, extra Nomis, unlimited messaging and deeper customisation need a subscription.
• Long-term memory: Short, medium and long-term memory is the headline feature.
• Multiple Nomis and group chats: Paid accounts get up to 10 Nomis and 10 group chats at once; more slots can be bought with credits. (paid)
• Selfies and art: Nomis send in-context selfies and can generate art; the free tier has a daily image allowance.
• Voice messages and calls: Voice messages and hands-free calls are paid features; in-house and custom voices have unlimited use. (paid)
• Custom backstory: You can write a backstory and shared notes, or let the personality form by chatting.
• Proactive messages: A Nomi can optionally message you first after you have been away.
• Internet, links and images: Nomis can read links, browse the web and see images you send.
• Message length: Your messages are capped at 400 characters on free and 800 on paid.

• Downgrading to free keeps your Nomis and one-on-one chat; group chats, video, voice messages and calls become read-only.

Pay-per-use costs on top of the plan

What Nomi allows

• Nomi markets its chat as unfiltered and uncensored.
• Its own FAQ says chats are not restricted by 'arbitrary content filters', naming flirting and roleplay. It does not use the words NSFW or explicit.
• Nude images are not allowed: Nomis cannot send nude photos because of app-store and card-network rules; clothed 'flirty' pictures are allowed.
• Nomi says it will not change the no-nudes rule any time soon, and any future NSFW images would sit on a separate website.
• All Nomi characters are 18+.
• The terms have no category-by-category content policy; they ban unlawful use and manipulating a Nomi into making unlawful statements.
• For California users, detected self-harm talk triggers an in-app message with crisis resources (SB 243).

Age rules and verification

• Terms: 18+ only, under any circumstances.
• Age check is a date of birth at sign-up; the terms say Nomi 'intends to' add more age verification, so no ID or selfie check is described.
• App Store age rating: 18+, with in-app 'Age Assurance' controls listed.
• The latest iOS update (1.12.1, Mar 31) cites compliance with Australian internet rules.

Privacy: what happens to your chats

Who can read your chats

No published source addresses whether staff can read chats. The privacy policy only says it limits access to personal information to what is needed to run the service.

Training on your chats

Chats are used, with names removed, to teach Nomis to write more like thumbs-up replies; Nomi's wiki says there is no other use of chat data. The terms grant Nomi a perpetual worldwide license to your inputs and the outputs, including for developing updates to the system.

Sharing with third parties

Sharing is limited to 'legitimate business purposes'; personal data is de-identified where possible. Courts and law enforcement can get data, and a buyer of the company would get it. The homepage claims chats are anonymized and not shared with third-party sites. Sign-up requires a Google or Apple account; Nomi says this avoids storing passwords and does not give those providers access to chats.

Selling your data

The privacy policy says Nomi does not and will not sell or rent personal information.

How long they keep it

The policy says no personal information is kept after you delete the account, except messages you sent to support, which it archives.

Deleting your data

Deleting your account from Account Settings deletes personal information within about 28 days.

Encryption

Nomi says chats are not end-to-end encrypted, because the AI has to read them to reply.

What the store privacy labels say

Apple 'App Privacy' label: no tracking is declared, but email, purchases, user content, identifiers and usage data are linked to you, and email is used for Nomi's own marketing.

Renewal, refunds, cancelling and deleting your account

• Renewal: Plans renew automatically at the end of each month, quarter or year until cancelled.
• Renewal: Nomi's terms let it raise the subscription price from your next renewal.
• Refunds: No refunds for buyer's remorse, lack of use, dissatisfaction, partial months or downgrades; any refund is at Nomi's discretion.
• Cancelling: Cancel on the platform you paid through: your account page on the web, Google Play or Apple ID subscriptions. Deleting the app does not stop billing.
• Cancelling: You keep paid features until the end of the billing period.
• Your account: Delete from Account Settings: choose delete and confirm with a 6-digit code emailed to you. Deleting single Nomis does not erase account history.
• Your account: To cancel a subscription, go to the Subscription tab and choose 'manage subscription'.
