Dondi AI review: $14.99 a month, 5 free messages a day, and "Live" numbers that never move

Dondi AI (dondi.ai) is a browser-only AI girlfriend app: a gallery of ready-made companions, chat, a builder for your own companion, and a Studio that makes images and short videos of the companion you pick. Its home page sells it harder than most rivals sell theirs, with "Join over 50 million users", a "fully private adult mode — no restrictions", a "zero-log policy" and unlimited everything "from day one". Nearly everything past the home page needs an account, so for this review we read every public page from a US address on 2026-10-27: the terms, privacy notice, community guidelines, underage, blocked-content and 2257 statements, the help center, the logged-out sign-up funnel, and the JavaScript the app sends to every visitor, which carries the text of the screens behind the sign-in. Where a fact comes from that code rather than a screen we saw, we say so. Scores wait for our standardized bench.

The short version

The product is ordinary; the gap between the marketing and the fine print is not. Premium is $14.99 a month or $71.88 a year per the help center, and the free account the home page calls unlimited is capped at 5 messages a day in the app's code. The home page says chats are "never stored" and "end-to-end encrypted"; the terms let your chats train AI models "internally or with affiliated technology partners", and the guidelines allow human review. Cancelling, in the current code, ends with an email to support. The "Live" counts on the home page have not changed since July. Three company names, no store apps, no Trustpilot page. Nothing here is unusual for this vertical on its own; all of it together is a reason to pay monthly, not yearly, if you try it.

What Dondi AI actually is

In its own help center's words, "Dondi is an AI companion app where you can browse companions, open chats, create your own companion with Premium, and use paid media features like Studio and My Media." There is no app to install: "No installation needed at all. Dondi AI works entirely through your browser on any device". The one App Store app called Dondi belongs to an unrelated company, DONDITECH SAS, and gives loyalty points at shops; on Google Play the top result is a third-party guide app.

The home page shows 40 companion cards under the tabs Asian, Mature, Latin and Anime, with 37 different names, and claims "200+ AI Models". There is no tone switch: "There is no visible Normal, Romantic, Spicy, or Roleplay mode switch in the current app", so a chat's tone comes from the character. Studio images start at 5 tokens and a "5-second video animation" costs 50; the code adds that videos are silent ("Silent clip — generated videos have no audio") and that companions' voice notes cost a token each ("Play 1 new voice message for 1 token"). Premium includes 200 tokens a month, enough for about 40 images or four short videos. The checkout lists "Voice & video calls" among the Premium features; we found no call feature in the help center or the code, only those voice notes.

Adult content is the point. Studio's preset prompts in the code run to fully nude, and the chat's quick buttons include "Get naked" from relationship level 2. The rules ban anything that could make an output resemble someone under 18, deepfakes of real people, and non-consensual scenes, and prompts pass through automated moderation. No image tool takes an uploaded photo: Studio works from a text prompt on a companion you pick, and the companion builder is preset choices.

Pricing: one plan in the help center, more in the code

The plan page (app.dondi.ai/pricing) sends a logged-out visitor to the sign-in form. The only public prices are in the help center's "Pick Your Plan" article, which opens with "Simple pricing. No trial language. No surprise renewal wording.": Premium at $14.99 a month or $71.88 a year, the yearly plan shown at checkout as $5.99 a month, plus a one-time 500-token bonus in the first month of a yearly plan. Paid monthly, a year costs $179.88, so the yearly plan saves a lot, if you are sure.

The checkout code carries more. A weekly plan at $6.99 ("$6.99 billed every 7 days"), three months at $35.97, and a test version in which monthly is $19.99 and three months $44.97, so the price a new account sees may not be the help center's. Token packs run from 150 tokens for $5.99 to 500 for $15.99 and 1,500 for $39.99, with larger packs up to $399.99. The payment page code also holds the line "Only 18 discounted yearly memberships left today!" as fixed text, not a count, and the home page's sign-up box offers "70% Off" under a timer that says "Offer expires when timer hits zero".

Two rules contradict each other. Refunds: the terms allow a request "within 24 hours of payment", the checkout code says "All sales final", and a paywall card in the code promises a "7-Day Money Back Guarantee". Tokens: the terms say "Unused tokens expire at the end of the applicable subscription period"; the top-up screen says "tokens never expire". Our tracker page has every price with its source.

The home page against the fine print

The home page's privacy block says: "Dondi AI operates on a zero-log policy — conversations are processed, never stored", and its FAQ says "All conversations are end-to-end encrypted". The help center says the opposite of the first claim in four words, "Your thread stays saved for later", and the privacy notice lists "encryption" among general security measures without claiming end to end. The terms go further: "Your Content may be used to train, improve, evolve, and enhance AI systems", and "Such use may occur internally or with affiliated technology partners", including for "marketing and promotional activities (where permitted by law)". The community guidelines say Dondi "uses a combination of automated systems and human review to monitor requests, conversations", and "We may also monitor communications for quality assurance and system improvement purposes."

The FAQ also says "your activity on the platform is never shared with third parties". On 2026-10-27 the logged-out app start page loaded Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity and called tracking tags on 13 other outside domains, and the cookie notice allows third-party cookies that "may collect information about your online activity across multiple websites or services." The privacy notice does say "We do not sell your Personal Data."

On the free tier, the home page says "unlimited messaging, photos, voice, and video are all included from day one. No throttling. No message caps cutting off the mood." The help center's free plan lets you "Start chats with a limited daily message cap", and the chat code sets that cap at 5 messages a day, or 10 for users in a test group.

The "Live" numbers

Every one of the 40 home page cards carries a "Live" label and a number beside a heart. Isabel, 21, shows 836; Antonella, 30, shows 867; Hanna, 22, shows 973. The Wayback Machine's copy of the page from July 20 shows the same 40 numbers, as do all ten of our own reads from August 3 to October 22 and the page on 2026-10-27; the whole page text has not changed in that time, including the "LIMITED OFFER" banner and its countdown. Before that, an archived copy from April 2 shows four companions under "New" badges and no counts at all. The numbers are written into the page's HTML, not loaded live, and the page never says what they count. Dondi is not alone in this; our story on AI live cams found Candy AI setting its viewer counts in page code too. We found no stream behind Dondi's badge.

Cancelling and deleting

The help center's version is simple: Settings, Subscription, turn off renewal, and "Premium stays active until the paid-through date"; "Mid-term cancellation does not refund unused subscription time". The app's current code is longer. The "Turn Off Renewal" button opens a dialog that asks for a reason, offers monthly subscribers "Pause instead - skip one month" and "Take 50% off your first yearly payment and keep Premium active.", and ends at "Still want to cancel?" with an email button to [email protected], "and our team will cancel it for you." The note under it reads "Your subscription stays active until support confirms the cancellation." The prefilled email asks support to make sure you are not billed if renewal is within 48 hours. We could not sign in to see which version a paying user gets, but plan on sending that email, and send it early.

Deleting the account is "one action, done" on the home page. The code has two versions of the delete screen. One deletes at once. The other hides the account and deletes it free after 30 days ("Hidden now. Permanently deleted in 30 days."), or charges to do it now: "You can still delete for free in 30 days without paying. This charge only speeds deletion up." The price comes from Dondi's server; the code's fallback is 499 cents, $4.99.

Is it safe to use?

Who you are paying is unclear. The terms open "Welcome to dondi.ai (Techcommerce Unlimited, 15090 Kensington Park Dr, Tustin, CA 92782)!", the footer says "Powered by dondi.ai Labs Inc.", and the 2257 statement gives "18627 Brookhurst Street 1300 Fountain Valley CA 92708" with no company beside it. The privacy notice says only that "dondi.ai acts as the Controller", with no address or email, and the terms name no governing law beyond "applicable laws of the operating jurisdiction". The home page claims "Join over 50 million users" a few lines above "3,000,000+ Monthly Visits". There is no App Store or Google Play app to carry a rating, and no Trustpilot page for dondi.ai.

The age check is a click: the underage policy describes "an age gate requiring them to affirm that they are 18 years or older before proceeding" and admits "no age-verification system is perfect". The terms reserve the right to ask for documents at any time. On the card statement, the FAQ promises "a discreet, generic merchant descriptor"; the checkout code says it will read "DonAI".

What we haven't tested yet

Everything behind the account: which prices and which cancel and delete screens a new account actually gets, whether the 5-message cap holds, what the instant-delete fee is, whether "Voice & video calls" exist, how far 200 tokens go, and chat and memory quality. That is the standardized paid bench, S1 through S7 in our published methodology, and it is why this review carries no score yet. When the bench runs, the score and dated receipts land here and on the tracker profile.

Verdict: who should try it

If you want a browser-only NSFW companion with image and video tokens, Dondi's yearly plan works out to $5.99 a month; the pricing table shows where that sits among the 39 apps we have priced. Try the free account first and expect a few messages a day, not unlimited. If you pay, pay monthly until you have seen the cancel screen, keep the support email address handy, and do not tell it anything you would not want used to train a model. If the privacy promises are what drew you, read our check of end-to-end claims in this category first. For a named operator and plain prices, Candy AI is the comparison to make.

FAQ

How much does Dondi AI cost?

Dondi's help center lists one paid plan, Premium, at $14.99 a month or $71.88 a year ($5.99 a month), with 200 tokens a month for images and video. The plan page itself opens only after you sign in. The app's code holds other prices that no public page shows: a weekly plan at $6.99, three months at $35.97, a test version with monthly at $19.99, and token packs from $5.99 for 150 tokens. (Prices read 2026-10-23.)

Is Dondi AI free?

Partly. A free account can browse companions and chat up to a daily cap that no Dondi page states; the app's code sets it at 5 messages a day, or 10 for some users in a test. Images, videos and your own companions need Premium and tokens. The home page says the opposite: "unlimited messaging, photos, voice, and video are all included from day one".

Are the Live numbers on Dondi AI real?

We cannot tell what they count, and Dondi does not say. They do not move: the 40 chat cards marked "Live" on the home page show the same numbers in an archived copy from July 20 and in all our reads since (Isabel, 21, has shown 836 every time), and they are written into the page's HTML rather than loaded live. No video stream sits behind the badge that we could see.

How do I cancel Dondi AI?

The help center says Settings, Subscription, turn off renewal; Premium stays on to the paid-through date and unused time is not refunded. The app's current code puts a dialog behind that button, with a pause offer and a yearly discount for monthly plans, and its last panel says to email [email protected]: "Your subscription stays active until support confirms the cancellation." Support says it replies within 24 to 48 hours, so email well before a renewal.

Can I get a refund from Dondi AI?

The terms allow a request "within 24 hours of payment" for a subscription, and for tokens only if none were used. The checkout code says "All sales final" in one place and offers a "7-Day Money Back Guarantee" in another. Go by the terms, which are the contract.

Who owns Dondi AI, and is it legit?

It is a working web app with published terms, but three names appear: the terms name Techcommerce Unlimited of Tustin, California, the footer says "Powered by dondi.ai Labs Inc.", and the 2257 page gives an address in Fountain Valley, California with no company name. The privacy notice names no company and no email. There is no App Store or Google Play app (the App Store "Dondi" is an unrelated loyalty app) and no Trustpilot page.

What will Dondi AI show on my card statement?

The home page FAQ promises "a discreet, generic merchant descriptor". The checkout code says: Statement shows "DonAI". We have not been charged, so we have not seen a statement.
